Donggeon Kim & Hoyeong Kim
Hoyeong Kim
Kim Hoyeong is a Korean space designer currently majoring in Interior Architecture and Design. Their work explores the intersection of poetic expression and structural clarity, often addressing urgent social and environmental issues through architecture. With a focus on user experience and contextual storytelling, Kim aims to create spaces that are both emotionally relatable and functionally sustainable.
Donggeon Kim
Donggeon Kim believes that space is not merely a backdrop, but an active agent that supports and transforms human life and emotion. Always reflecting on how space shapes experiences and relationships, Kim aspires to continue designing with this perspective at the heart of their work.

Jan Malý & Anna Bretterová
Jan Malý and Anna Bretterová are graduates of architecture at Brno University of Technology. Anna likes to explore architecture on a broader urban scale and emphasizes the context of the building's surroundings. Jan has an eye for detail, precision, and the right choice of materials and structural solutions. The design of the rural school is a response to the fascinating landscape of northern Vietnam with its numerous rice fields. The design takes into account the possibilities of the local population and the climatic conditions in the area.
"We believe it is important to design architecture that is not only attractive but also realistic and functional. We want to show that even with limited possibilities and resources, beautiful, functional, and sustainable architecture can be created."

Hyomin Kang
Hyomin Kang is an architecture student at Dongguk University in Seoul, South Korea. Drawn to the clarity that repetition brings to spatial design, Hyomin believes that repeated elements help people intuitively understand the logic of a space, making their experience more legible and grounded. Their work explores how simple, repeated modules can create both rhythm and meaning in architecture.
As part of their design process, Hyomin studied architectural precedents from regions with climates similar to Rajasthan—focusing on projects that addressed heat, aridity, and material scarcity through passive and context-driven strategies. These ideas were then reinterpreted through the lens of rural Rajasthan, adapting key principles into new spatial responses that reflect the local climate, culture, and daily life.
The Brick School embodies this approach, incorporating modular roofs, earthen walls, and decentralized water systems to create a space that is both sustainable and educationally meaningful.

Evelyn Kozlov
Evelyn Kozlov is a master’s student in Architecture at the University of Kassel, currently working on a thesis focused on enabling the reuse of reclaimed timber in architectural-scale projects with minimal pre-processing. Her research explores computational design and digital fabrication methods, including augmented reality-aided collaborative assembly, to create intricate structural components composed of many unique reclaimed timber elements. Her approach emphasizes optimizing both material use and structural performance.
“Participating in this competition gave me the opportunity to test the durability and design potential of bottom-up, circular construction strategies. It allowed me to bridge rational component functionality with spatial design, addressing the urgent need for more sustainable architectural practices.”

Jieun Lim
Jieun Lim is an architecture student at Dongguk University with a strong interest in cultural spaces such as libraries and museums. She believes that architecture should be intuitive and easy to understand, especially for the people who experience it. With this in mind, she prioritizes circulation and human movement in her design process, aiming to create spaces that naturally guide users and enhance their experience. Jieun is also deeply interested in eco-friendly design and aspires to create architecture that minimizes the impact of climate change by integrating sustainable strategies and materials. Her goal is to design cultural spaces that feel like stepping into another world—spaces that exist in harmony with nature while minimizing their impact on it.

Zhang Zhonghua, Yang Sitong, Sun Tengxiao, Cao Jiahao
Zhang Zhonghua, Yang Sitong, Sun Tengxiao, and Cao Jiahao are graduate students at HIT who share a deep passion for architectural design. Their award-winning project emerged from an immersive exploration of Yunnan’s breathtaking mountainous landscapes. Rather than viewing the terrain as a limitation, they embraced it as a valuable asset. Their design integrates local features to create a space that functions both as a school for children and a communal center for villagers. This dual-purpose approach is intended to foster sustainable development in harmony with nature—an idea they see as central to the study of architecture. The project reflects their vision for rural education and community life, expressing their perspective on the future of rural schools. They believe architecture should enable sustainable coexistence with nature, and this project embodies that belief, helping the village thrive. For them, design is a tool for holistic growth—this is the essence of why they study architecture.
