Editorial reflection
The Circular Economy Marketplace competition challenged participants to reimagine markets as regenerative spaces where waste becomes a resource and sustainability drives design, operations, and community life.
The selected proposal, CIRCULAR BY DESIGN, explores how textile reuse, repair networks, and urban regeneration can strengthen local livelihoods while fostering a more resource-conscious future. We congratulate the participant and thank everyone who contributed their ideas toward rethinking sustainable marketplaces.

Juror’s Comment:
The proposal presents a thoughtful and context-sensitive approach to circular urbanism, successfully connecting textile reuse, repair, local livelihoods, and public-space regeneration into a broader urban network. Its comprehensive research and integrated strategies demonstrate a strong understanding of how architecture can support sustainable economic and social systems.
Work on:
The project could be strengthened by developing the architectural interventions in greater detail, particularly their material selection, construction feasibility, and operational requirements. Clearer implementation strategies and measurable targets for waste reduction would further reinforce the proposal’s potential for real-world impact.
