Monologue from One Soul
Design by
Xiaoyun Zhou, Jun Fang & Yuanjian He
"This well-defined geometry, the precise reading forms propose a clarity almost contradictory to the concept, which can be found downright hallucinatory. The interplay of light and shadow guides the user through a beautiful journey that accentuates the verticality of the scheme. "
-Andreea Felciuc
"REALLY NICE graphics + geometries // design slightly too complex to remain interesting // maybe you could have described a single theme or emotion from the film instead of the full story?"
-Lawrence Daykin
"A fantastic project! I really appreciate the way the entire form gels in with the environment. The monochromatic color pallete alongside the organic form that seamlessly explains the plot of the concept and its inception is commendable. "
-Sidra Khokhar

What is your design philosophy?
In my opinion, the act of design is like a way of emotional communication. No matter the object is human or object, two-way emotions are communicated through "being designed". Such "being designed" is not necessarily practice, but some may be ideology. As design practitioners, we need to build a communication mechanism from it, so that the social connection is closer, of course, this is also the responsibility.
Can you briefly explain your understanding of the topic and the source of ideas?
I strongly agree with and support the idea put forward by the organizer. Although contemporary architectural design has formed many unique styles and charms, many concerns have been placed in the scope of functional services, while concerns about human's pure feelings or emotions have been gradually diluted, which is similar to the development process of the movie on a certain level. Therefore, the design of this museum also hopes to reconstruct a new museum form through emotional analysis and translation of classic movies, so as to influence people's behavior and thinking and awaken their attention to emotional space.
When and how you were first introduced to architecture?
Before I came into contact with architecture, I thought architectural design or space design was a highly professional job that depended on science and technology. However, after the first encounter with Gaudi's architecture, I found that architecture is actually very romantic, full of emotion and strength, and it can carry a lot, not only temperature and safety in the physical sense.
What does architecture mean to you?
Architecture is of great significance to me. It not only makes me know a lot of interesting people and things, but also helps me find my life goal.
