Juror’s Comment:
The proposal thoughtfully reimagines Hwagae Market as a tea-centered community destination, reconnecting local tea culture with the market’s historic identity. The integration of sourcing, processing, storage, sales, and visitor experiences creates a compelling narrative, supported by a clear architectural language and inviting public spaces.
Work on:
The proposal could better demonstrate how the design directly supports local producers and strengthens their livelihoods while balancing tourism with everyday market activities. Further clarity on sustainable strategies and the integration of tea production with community life would strengthen the project's overall impact.
