Editorial reflection
The most meaningful urban spaces are not always the largest. The Urban Pocket Park Pavilion competition challenged participants to transform compact, overlooked sites into vibrant places for rest, play, and social connection through thoughtful, human-centered design.
The jury was inspired by the creativity and diversity of the submissions, evaluating each proposal for its contextual response, functionality, sustainability, and architectural innovation. We congratulate the winners and commend all participants for their inspiring contributions toward creating more inclusive and engaging public spaces.

The proposal elegantly reinterprets the archetype of a tree into a lightweight pavilion that encourages play, rest, and social interaction. Its prefabricated, transportable system with non-invasive foundations demonstrates excellent environmental sensitivity while offering a memorable public-space experience.

The proposal presents a poetic and highly original vision by treating the pavilion as a living organism that evolves over time. The proposal transforms a conventional transit waiting area into a vibrant micro-park that successfully combines mobility infrastructure with ecological restoration and community interaction. The integration of vegetation, community library, herb garden, and playful social spaces creates a memorable public experience.

Rojia Pira
The proposal demonstrates a thoughtful and sensitive response to its historic setting by using a sunken spatial strategy that preserves visual prominence of the Windcatcher Building while creating framed views, cooling through water, and a contemplative public realm. The restrained architectural language successfully balances heritage with contemporary intervention.
